ArtFest Fort Myers will be held in early February 2007 in Downtown Fort Myers. This is Southwest Florida's premier art festival that celebrates art and artists from all over, and gives visitors the chance to see great art for free. Who knows, you may go back to your Florida car rental with a new piece of art to take home with you.

ArtFest is great because there is a lot of variety and you can talk with the artists, over 200 over the weekend. Also, if you have kids, there are plenty of activities to keep them busy as well and introduce them to art.

Artists

Over 200 artists are showcased in a single weekend in Fort Myers. They display and sell of the work that they bring, including watercolors, oil, acrylic, graphics, charcoal, pen and ink, sculpture, wood, glass, fiber, photography, mixed media, jewelry, and ceramics. There are originals and some limited reproductions available for you to take home in your Florida car rental.

Publix Art Yard

This is the area you will want to bring kids after you leave your Florida car rental. Kids will be able to express themselves through art here, no matter how old they are. In the kids art tent, local artists will help kids make a variety of art to take home with them and get them started with a love and appreciation for it.

Young artists are also on display at ArtFest. There is a collection of art from kids aged 6 to 12 on display and available for sale for $5. On stage, youth perform music, dance, and theater throughout the weekend.

Other than Art...

Other than art, there are many places to grab a bite to eat without getting back into your Florida car rental. It is almost like taking a trip around the world - there are dishes from many different cultures. And the food has to pass by a jury before they are able to serve at the festival, just like the artists have to pass by a jury!

Performing artists are recognized in their on-stage performances, providing music for the festival.

Directions

Getting to ArtFest with your Florida car rental is easy and there are colorful ArtFest signs that point out where parking is located. Once you get to the downtown area, you only need to look for those colorful signs to know where you are going.

The bottom line: ArtFest is a unique festival held once a year in Fort Myers. It gives you an opportunity to see great art by unknown artists. Who knows, maybe one day what you see will be as famous as Van Goth or Picasso!
